Portraits in Pastel by Jim Renshaw

When a conventional artist paints a portrait he naturally tries to capture what he considers to be a true likeness of the subject revealing as much character and mood as is possible — and capturing this unique character and expression is very fulfilling and satisfying — something I very much enjoy trying to achieve. Seeing the joy in someone’s eyes when they see a finished painting is all an artist needs to tell him his work has been appreciated.

Based in Warrington, North West England, I take commissions from all over the UK and abroad working mainly in my preferred medium of pastels, using photographs as a reference to create a timeless painting as an unique gift for someone that has everything, special occasion or as a lasting memory. If you have a special black and white image you would like to see in colour, have a look at B/w conversions.
